About Florida Criminal Records
The NCPA or National Child Protection Act passed by the Florida Congress in 1993 states that people who work with children – whether they are regular employees or volunteers must have an authorized Florida Criminal Records check done on them. Further to this, an amendment stated that this went for people working with the elderly and the disabled as well. A further amendment in 1998 proposed by Florida Representative Foley saw the paving of the way to make access to the Florida Criminal Records much easier than it had been before. 1999 saw the Florida Legislature pass a law that was in consonance with the NCPA and together, all these work in conjunction to disseminate criminal records and history better in order to make things safer for people, especially those who could be at risk of ill-treatment.
The main idea was to help those who were into the area of care – whether it was childcare, care for the elderly or those with disabilities. These entities can now check the backgrounds of their employees and volunteers and weed out the ones who could be potentially harmful. This goes a long way to preventing abuse of these sections of people who need care.
